Connecting to the Internet:
Dial up connections:- In many homes and small business,
individual users connect to the internet by using a telephone line and a
modern.
In a dial up connection your computer
uses modem to dial a telephone number given to you by the ISP. This establishes
the connection b/w your PC and the ISP server.
Like any phone call the connection is
only temporary. It begins when the IP’s server answers the calls and ends when
your PL or the server hangs up.
High speed broad band
connection:- When
many users share on internet connection through a LAN, the connection b/w the
network and ISP must be adequate to meet all the needs. This often means
supporting the traffic created by all the users at the same time.
Formality delicate high speed data
circuits are available from telephone companies, cable TV services and other
supplies such as large networking companies and satellite services provides.

control signaling over a single telephone line. 15 DN service on standard
telephone lines that requires the special modem and phone services which adds
to the cost.
Digital Subscriber line

is similar to ISDN in its use of the telephone network, but it uses more
advanced digital signal processing and algorithm to compress more signals
through the telephone lines. DSL also requires changes in components of the
telephone network before we can be offered in an area.
Cable Modem services: Many cable television companies now
use a portion of their networks and width to offer internet access through
existing cable television connections this internet connection option is called
