Explain How to Create Charts in MS Excel?

Creating a chart is an important facility provided by MS excel application. Chart is an important facility provided by MS excel application. Charts are also called as graphs and you can create a graph by using chart wizard.

1) Line chart

2) Bar chart

3) Pie chart

4) 3D chart

5) Column bar chart

6) XY chart

7) Area chart etc……….

Steps to create a chart:- 

1.If you want to compare the result of three students of three unit tests having different percentages of marks.

2. Select the data area (range) by using a mouse pointer. Then open chart wizard from the standard tool bar (or) select the chart command which is available in insert menu.

3. MS Excel shows the chart wizard dialogue box.

4. You have to select the type of the graph that you want . So that the graph will be displayed on the screen as per your selection by default. You can select any graph of your choice but initially a column graphic is  high lighted.

5. Now click on the next button after selecting the type of graphic formats of column chart which was previously selected.

6. In the next step the chart wizard box shows different formats of column chart which was previously selected.

7. The part of the selected cells that are taken as labels for x axis and y axis by default. It uses the first row as x axis label and first column as y axis is data.

8. The text step is to click on the finish button at the end of the process so it display a chart for you.


Note that the chart wizard provides options such as heading titles , x axis and y axis titles, grid lines etc…..
