Modem (Modular Demodulator)

A modem is a device that enable the computer to convert analog signals into digital signals and vice versa where the telephone line transfer the data in analog form therefore a device is require to convert the analog data into digital data. So modem is used to convert the digital signals into analog signals at sender side and analog signals into digital signals at receiver side. Moderns are normally used in networking in order to send the signal through telephone lines.

Modems are mainly 2 types they are:

1. Internal modem: - It is fixed into the slot of mother board. Now a days this type of modems are being rarely used.


2. External modem: - It is just connected to the computer now a days this modems are being frequently used.
