What is Data Filter Command in Excel Spread Sheet?

When you have data in the excel cells and you wish to extract only certain entries that you need on a particular condition. Then you can use data filter command. This command is available in data menu. There are two types of commands for filtering data in excel.

1. Auto filter:-

The auto filter command is used to filter data depending upon a simple criteria ( it requires a valid criteria and can be used with the relational operators ( >, <. >=, = etc) on a specific field. So that the auto filter command shows only those records depending upon the condition but the remaining records still exists but hidden.

2. Advanced filter: -

The advanced filter command can be used for more complex criteria operations. For example if you want to extract the records from the entire data base according to the fields age, qualification, height and marks of the student then you can use advanced filter option.

                        Note that the filter command does not arrange the data like sort command.
