What is a Template? How do you modify Templates?

Templates: Read only documents with styles and other elements that we use to create or re-style your document are called templates.

Templates are already pre-defined designed format that anyone can access it, the template can store pre defined text, page set up, font styles graphical pictures etc.

Template Types :- A word standard templates came in 3 different flavors, micro soft refers to this as a template tabs. 
  • Contemporary
  • ˜Elegant
  • Professional
Each type given a document a different look for examples the contemporary letters templates used time new roman, while professional use arial.

Using Templates: Choose file ® New and click tab you wish in the new dialogue box and just pick the templates you wish by rare.

You can preview templates here, double click on your choice then simplify add your own text by clicking on the appropriate areas of the templates and replacing the tables with your own words.

Modifying templates:

You can change templates just as you do in any other document.

1. Use the file ® New command to open the contemporary template. Be sure in click the templates button.
2. Make the changes such as adding your styles and other formatting techniques.
3. Print a sample and check you work
4. When you are satisfied choose file ® Save as, you can see the save as dialogue box.
5. Type the same file name as the old template if you want to replace the old template (or) type a new file name if you want to keep both the  old and new.
