WWW is a software application that
makes it easy and possible for nearly anyone to publish and browse documents on
the Internet. The web has developed a huge following because of its ease of use
and visual appeal. It is called a web.
The Internet can be thought of as a
very large group of networked computers. The information on the web is
transported over the Internet. The web therefore uses the Internet. In fact the
web is now the driving force behind the Internet. The web generates the
greatest traffic demands on the Internet and new Internet technology is being
developed to meet the needs and wishes of web users.
One of
the ways of accessing information of the net is through world wide web. The web is basically a bunch of
resources linked together with the hyper text points that allows the user to
move from one another on the net. WWW is the latest, fastest growing activity
on the internet. You can retrieve documents, view images, animation and listen
to sound files.
The
linking of one page related to another subsidiary topic is called hyper
link. WWW means collection of documents known as HTML pages integrated with
hyper links the web pages are created by using special language called HTML.
The web runs on the HTTP protocol.
Browsers are multi protocol, which means they can talk to many different kinds
of resources that make up the Internet and the number of protocols being
included in browsers is steadily increasing.
The central idea in a development of
the web was the Uniform Resource Locator
(URL). URL is a web address that uniquely identifies a document on the web.
Such a document can be an image, an HTML, program etc. Unique addresses makes
linking to anyone’s web documents possible.
