Explain Distribution Transparency ?

Which allows distributed data base to be located as a single logical data base.

Three levels of distribution transparency are :

  1. Fragmentation Transparency
  2. Location Transparency
  3. Local mapping Transparency
1. Fragmentation Transparency :

It is highest level of transparency. The end user (or) programmer doesn’t need to know that a data base is partitioned.

2. Location Transparency :

programmer must specify the data base fragments names but doesn’t need to specify where those fragments are located.

3.Local mapping Transparency :

programmer must specify both the fragment names & their locations.
