Project Schedule: dependencies between activities,
estimated time to reach each milestone, and allocation of resources to
activities.
Basic Principles of Project Scheduling:
1. Compartmentalization - The product and process must be decomposed into a manageable
number of activities and tasks
2. Interdependency - Tasks that can be completed in
parallel must be separated from those that must completed serially
3. Time allocation - Each task to be scheduled must be allocated some number of
work units (e.g., person‐days of effort).
4. Effort validation - Project manager must ensure that on any given day there are
enough staff members assigned to completed the tasks within the time estimated
in the project plan
5. Defined responsibilities - Every task that is scheduled should be assigned to a
specific team member.
6. Defined outcomes - Every task that is scheduled should have a defined outcome.
7. Defined milestones - A milestone is accomplished when one or more work products
from an engineering task have passed quality review
