AFCAT 2014 Exam
Information
The Indian Air Force is the air arm of the Indian armed forces.
Its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial
warfare during a conflict.
The Indian Air Force Academy (IAF) conducts the AFCAT - Air
Force Common Admission Test in order to Join Indian Air Force as Permanent /
Short Service Commissioned Officer in
- Flying Branch
- Technical Branch
- Ground Duty Branches
AFCAT is conducted twice a year.
The selection procedure for AFCAT exam is,
- AFCAT exam,
- Intelligence Test,
- Psychological Test,
- Group Test and Interview,
- Pilot Aptitude Battery Test
(PABT).
AFCAT 2014 Exam
Eligibility
For
Flying Branch:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any subject area with 60% Marks from a recognized
University or Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology of 4 years with
60% Marks. Candidates must be passed 12th Examination with Maths and Physics.
Age
Limit: Between 19 and 23 years as on 01/01/2014. Those candidates
holding valid Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA will be relaxed in age
upto 25 years.
Physical
Standard: (Male & Female) - Height - 162.5, with correlated
weight Vision - 6/6 and 6/9.
For
Technical Branch:
Qualifications:
Degree Qualifications of 4 years from a recognized University for AE (L) and AE
(M). Final year of 4 years Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor Technology from a
recognized University for AE (L) and (M) UES-2013 Entry.
Physical
Standard: Height (Men) - 157.5 cms, (Women) - 152 cms with
correlated weight.
Age:
18 to 28 years as on 01/01/2014
For
Ground Duty Branches:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any subject area with 60% Marks or PG Degree or equivalent
diploma in any subject area with 50% Marks.
Age:
Between 20 to 23, 20 to 25, 20 to 26 and 20 to 27 years as on 01/01/2014 as per
Qualifications.
Physical
Standard: Height (Men) - 157.5 cms, (Women) - 152 cms with
correlated weight.
AFCAT 2014 Exam Syllabus
- General Awareness:- History,
Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art,
Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc
- Verbal Ability in English:-
Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms
and Testing of Vocabulary.
- Numerical Ability:- Decimal
Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio
& Proportion and Simple interest.
- Reasoning and Military Aptitude
Test
- Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.
AFCAT 2014 Exam Pattern
The AFCAT Exam Question Paper will have total 100 Questions. The
total time allotted the AFCAT Exam is 2 Hours.
There is negative marking. Each question carry 3 Marks. For a
wrong answer, 1 Mark is deducted.

Candidates are advised to read the notification for AFCAT
02/2014 and the detailed guidelines for filling up online application as given
in the website www.careerairforce.nic.in prior to commencement of filling up
online applications.
While filling online application, it is advisable to keep the
relevant documents readily available, as details are to be filled as per
matriculation and other educational certificates. Please save your recent
colour passport size photograph (size 10 to 250 kb) in the computer for
attaching to your online application form. Please note that utmost care needs
to be taken while filing up the online application. In case any information is
found to be incorrect then the candidates is likely to be cancelled at any
stage of the selection process.
