Chennai Metro Rail Limited(CMRL): The Chennai Metro Rail Corporation (CMRL) is a largest network across its state. It covered the area of Chennai and Tamilnadu. This project was approved on 7thNovember 2007 since then it became an essential source of up & down for people. After the name of Delhi Metro Rail (DMRC) Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has its own reputation.
As they are extending their project therefore now they are hiring more employees for their department for implementation of their projects. They have opening for various 719 vacancies for 2013.

Selection Procedure:
  1. For the post of Station Controller/Train Operator/Jr. Engineer (Stations) (Post Code-01):
    The selection methodology will comprise four stage processes - Online Test, Psychometric Test, and Proficiency in Tamil followed by Medical examination in A1 category. For details about Medical Standards visit CMRL website.
  2. For the post of Jr. Engineers (Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Civil), (Post Codes 02):
    The selection methodology will comprise three-stage process - Online Test, Proficiency in Tamil followed by Medical examination in A1 category. For details about Medical Standards visit CMRL website.
  3. For the post of Technician (Post codes 03):
    The selection methodology will comprise three-stage process - Online Test , Proficiency in Tamil followed by Medical examination in B1 category. For details about Medical Standards visit CMRL website

CMRL Exam Eligibility

The eligibility for CMRL exam is
  • Post Code 01: Station Controller (SC) / Train Operator (TO) / Junior Engineer (Stations) First class (60 % of marks and above) threeyears Diploma or Equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical (EEE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) from a Govt. recognized Institute. Age not exceeding 28 years.
  • Post Code 02: Junior Engineer (Mechanical /Electrical/ Electronics/ Civil) First class (60 % of marks and above) threeyears Diploma or Equivalent in relevant discipline (Mechanical, EEE, ECE & Civil) from a Govt. recognized Institute. Age not exceeding 28 years.
  • Post Code 03: Technician (Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Civil /Plumbing / Blacksmith/Welding/Information Technology)
Minimum SSLC pass plus ITI in specific trade with minimum 55% marks from govt. recognized Institute. The numbers of posts in each trade are listed below. Age not exceeding 28 years. The requirements of course duration for specific trade are as follows:-

  • General aptitude
  • Subject knowledge(based on their field)

CMRL Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for CMRL exam is
  • Duration : 2 Hours
  • Type : Multiple Choice Questions
  • Part I - General Aptitude 40 % of Questions
  • Part II - Subject Knowledge 60% of Questions
  • There will be no negative marking.

Apply for CMRL Exam

Candidates applying for the Various Positions in "Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL)" are required to apply only through the CMRL website: www.chennaimetrorail.gov.in. No other Means/Mode of application will be accepted.

Candidate can take print out of the submitted application and affix a self-attested latest passport size color photograph in the space provided at the top right side corner of the application form. Candidate has to ensure that the application is duly signed and has affixed his/her Left Hand thumb impression in the space provided for the same
Attach the following documents along with the printed application form;
  • Original Demand draft issued by any Nationalized bank (Mandatory). On the back side of Original DD, please write your Name, Unique Online Application Number and Mobile No.)
  • Self-attested copies of all relevant Certificates, Community certificate (if applicable), and Military service certificate (for Ex-serviceman).
  • Documentary proof for date of Birth (Eg: A copy of Xth or XIIth certificate may be enclosed to support date of birth)
Send it by post or courier super scribing on the top of the envelope "Name of the post applied for" so as to reach on or before the Due date to;

Payment of application fee (including postage charges) (non-refundable):

General & Others (including Ex-servicemen) candidates are required to pay a Non-refundable fee of Rs.500/- and SC/ST candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs.100/- (for processing & postage charge) in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of M/s Chennai Metro Rail Limited, payable at Chennai. The application number, candidate''s name, address and mobile number are to be indicated at the backside of the Demand Draft.
